About

The Purbeck Mining Museum is dedicated to the history and heritage of Purbeck Ball Clay mining and its industrial narrow gauge railways.

Visit us to find out more about the history of clay mining in Purbeck and learn about the experience of miners and their families.

On Swanage Railway special event days, Purbeck Mining Museum narrow gauge railway runs demonstrations of clay transportation using historic engines and clay skips.

Opening times:

Easter to end September.

Tues, Weds, Thurs, Sat and Sun.

11:00 - 16:00.

Admission charges:

Admission is free but we suggest a donation of £2 per adult.
